Because my first post just wasn’t enough, here’s more! I had such bad cravings for something warm and spicy again that I had to go back to Won Jung Gak last Saturday. That’s two times this week. I have a feeling I should start a tab… location makes such a huge difference.
This time around I took a photo of their popular menu items. If you order off of this, I’m sure you won’t go wrong. Other menu items are at the end of the post if you’re interested.
I believe any main entree will come with complimentary “banchan” or side dishes. It varies from day-to-day, this time we got kim chi, pickled cabbage, and some beansprouts. I always ask for extra beansprouts, they’re my favorite!
Joe ordered the “Jjam Bbong”, a spicy noodle soup with seafood. It was big enough to be a meal in itself. The noodles are almost a cross between pho rice noodle and spaghetti and the broth is a nice level of spice even though it looks super hot! I nabbed only a couple of bites though before Joe finished the entire bowl.
Last time I got the spicy pork rice bowl and it didn’t come with an egg. Wasn’t making that mistake this time! My love for fried egg was fulfilled with the dol sot bi bim bap. It came with a Korean soy sauce mix or Korean hot sauce which you could add to make the perfect mix. This is going to be my go-to rice bowl!
Fond memories of garlic fried chicken from their original location, I had to order it again. Deep fried crispy spicy goodness. I ordered the smaller size portion too and we still had leftovers to bring home. Lots and lots of chicken!
Future Won Jung Gak posts will probably have only photos. As I’m writing this post, I’ve already arranged another dinner date for Thursday. More Won Jung Gak for me!
